A Genuine Connection | Charleston 2015

genuine-connection-2015 I have had this desire within my heart to create a community for photographers and other creatives. I wanted it to be community of genuinely happy people who are looking to build relationships in efforts to lift each other up and help each other grow to be the best we can possibly be.

At the beginning of this year I had expressed my desires (out loud) to my pal Brittany Lauren and she did what every best friend should do; she supported and encouraged my idea by helping me plan the first ever Genuine Connection Meet-up!

I started kinda BIG! A trip to Charleston was planned for myself and 5 other photographers. I already knew 2 of the ladies going, but I would be meeting 3 new girls for the first time on this trip. It was more than exciting to know that I was going to have the opportunity to connect on a whole new level with women in the industry.

In our time together we shared our stories. We connected personal and professionally on a much deeper level than any social media relationship could provide. It was an absolute blessing to be physically present and able to not just hear what each other were saying, but to feel it as well. I certainly love my virtual relationships and am thankful for what they provide in my life. I just know the value of “in-person” relationships .. they are priceless. I am walking away from Charleston with such a full heart and a true understanding of who each of these woman are. Although I may not know each them deeply, I definitely have a better understanding because we connected in person.

Our little community has officially gotten started and I hope it grows to a very big community!! It is exciting to see that others out there have the same desires as I do! We have recently set out to connect with other established communities and I look forward to what can blossom with them. It is just so heartwarming to know that we are not alone in this industry. There are other genuine people who truly desire to make this world (and industry) a better place.
