This past Saturday I witnessed the beauty and the power we possess as humans. It is pretty incredible what can happen when we come together for the good of others. Over 100 people ages 8 months to 70 years, woke up bright and early to walk in support of the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte. We even had families who have utilized the house at one point in their life come out and show their appreciation for what RMH provides. It was our inaugural walk-a-thon and it was absolute perfection!
This charity walk-a-thon was developed and implemented by the 2018 #mlhseniorrolemodels team. Each team member had a variety of responsibilities that impacted the success of our efforts. From event advertisement, to sponsorship recruitment, to set up and clean up, everyone had an opportunity to contribute. We had strong leadership from our team member, Callie Smith, who brought in 80% of our sponsor donations as well as volunteers from her high school and community. Callie played a key role in the flow of the day and we could not have done it without her.
Thank you Callie for your hard work and your ability to persevere through the ups and downs of this process!
We are excited to report that we exceeded our goal and raised over $3000 between walk-a-thon participants and donations. This money can provide a family or families with 21 days, cost free, at the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte. Our hearts are full knowing that our community came through and supported not only our efforts but the incredible service RMH provides.
Thank you to our incredible sponsors! They stepped up in a BIG way for our event and they deserve all of the love we can give them. We couldn’t have had the success we did without their sponsorship and donations.

Thank you to Brooke Jackson, from Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte, for trusting my team and I with this awesome responsibility of raising money for the house! Your words of encouragement and love just blew me away. I appreciate your support!! We are just so excited to help the house in every way possible.
And a BIG thank you to my incredible friend Dee. She not only volunteered her time to take all of the gorgeous photos you have seen above, but she recruited friends and family to participate in this event. I am so grateful for her friendship and her support in everything I do!
Our hearts are 100% into this charity and this event! We wanted to express our love through all of the details, which led us to meet up the night before to decorate our walking path with some chalk love!
Kendall, Emma, Carson, Taylor, and my son Noah let their artistic abilities shine through! I am so incredibly grateful for their time and talent. Our walkers had beautiful messages and art to look at while they walked in Saturdays event.
Luke helped deliver chalk, dump chalk out, and run as far away as he could so that we would have to chase him.
